Winchester Bridge

This old bridge is in Winchester, Oregon. It is so narrow that two trucks can't cross at the same time and it may be closing down. Local businesses are upset because this bridge is an easy link to the freeway.

Letitia's Moss On Chimney

The receptionist where I work told me to take a look at the moss and grass growing on the old chimney outside our building. It was beautiful and of course I had to get a few shots. Thanks Letitia.

Bandon Revisited

My life has taken a turn for the busier recently and I'm lucky to have half an hour a day at my computer. In a couple weeks it should slow down again but in the meantime I hope you will forgive me if I repeat a post from last years PAD occasionally. This is a repeat but one of my favorites.

Richie Havens & Steve Forbert @ Snug Harbor Music Hall, S.I. N.Y. Feb 17, 2007

%$#@!&* It was my birthday and I couldn't get into the sound check! I called the box office who referred me to the producers who referred me to the managing agency. I emailed all the principals and didn't even get a response! My girlfriend Terry offered to buy the tickets. Everyone tried to talk me out bringing my camera since it was a no camera event but I just don't believe in such a thing. As it was I only pulled out my Canon 30D w/ 70-200mm lens when the audience burst into applause so I wouldn't get noticed as much. Richie's brother arrived and sat in front of me. 1 year apart but they both look identical, same white beard,
bald head and look in their eyes. He still lives in Brooklyn, I told him it's been 30 years since I photographed his brother. Richie's big hands covered the fretboard. His left thumb does more than just play the bass string as he uses it to finger his chords and like Hendrix his strumming hand moves at incredible speed, its like watching and hearing lightning!
Even though I couldn't photograph freely enough to capture exactly what I wanted, I did take note of the performers gestures & movements. I now know which chord Steve likes to accent by pointing to the ceiling and I'll be ready for Richie when he jumps up at the end of his set to kick the air!

Agee(e) Family Mystery

I posted a photo from this old cemetery before. This is the burial plot of the Agee family. I am puzzled about the name as it is carved into the back of the steps. It appears that it was carved as AGEE at one time, but someone added an extra E at a later date. Is this how you see it too? Any guesses what the situation was here? I really can't imagine. I have to get back up there to find out if that really is an added E or a design.

Old Barn... Old Car .. Old Camper

This barn is near Remote, Oregon. (Yes thats the real name and yes it does describe the community)

Four versions of one scene. I'm not sure which one I like best. At first I thought that old camper ruined the shot and cropped it out but now I'm not sure. It goes with the old car. Which one do you like?

This is a new barn but I decided to leave in more of the area around it.

A Barn... of course

I discovered this wonderful old barn on my way to Ben Irving Reservoir from Thursday's post. I had to cut off the left piece of the roof because there was a house in the way. I need to get back out there and shoot it from a different angle.

Chapman Children

You have to wonder what the story is here. Two Chapman children born more than 30 years apart who died at a young age.

I discovered this old cemetary a few weeks ago. It was very cold and I didn't have a warm jacket so I just got a few shots but I intend to get back to it soon.

Ben Irving Reservoir

This reservoir is only a 20 drive from my house but this is the first time I've been there since I fell in love with digital photography. The water was a bit cloudy but it was still beautiful.

Steve and Amber

More happy news. Some friends got married recently and I was honored to photograph the wedding. These are a couple of my favorite shots.

I learned some valuable lessons from this shoot. Mainly, if I take 800 shots it takes me weeks to get them all sorted and edited! I also learned that the lighting isn't good in most churches and I desparately need a better lighting system.

Prayers Needed

UPDATE... thank you! thank you! thank you! The judge hardly even considered the change of custody because there were no grounds for making a change. Even though we knew this was how it had to go, this has still been hanging over us for months and its soooo good to have it over with. Thanks so much for your prayers and thoughts.

Hi Blogger friends

I'm asking for prayers from those of you who pray. My daughter's ex has asked the courts for full custody of my grandson and tomorrow is the trial. My mind knows there is no chance this could happen but my heart won't let me stop thinking of all the what ifs and worse case sceneros. My daughter is a very good mother and there are no grounds for this case. Her attorney tells us not to worry but that doesn't make me less of a basket case tonight.

Please send prayers and good wishes our way tonight and tomorrow morning.

Golden Church

I missed yesterday so I'm doing two posts today.

Golden General Store

I've been out to Golden twice and both times the sun was too bright to get good shots. The thing with Oregon weather is that it can be perfect for taking pictures when you leave home but an hour later when you arrive at your destination it can be totally changed.

Golden Outhouse

Some of you may remember this outhouse from a previous post. It was taken in Golden also.

Not Artsy Outhouse

When I went back the last time I got a shot of the inside. Probably not the most comfortable seat.

Better Days

This old wagon has seen better days. It sits in a field in an old mining town called Golden. Golden is a ghost town now. I'll show more of it in the next few days.

Saturday my friend Dar(from yesterday's post) and I took a day trip to the southern part of the county. We traveled the Cow Creek Scenic Byway and found some beautiful country.

Breaking All The Rules

This is my friend and sometimes photo buddy, Darlene, and her baby Boggie. We couldn't resist getting this shot even though Boggie didn't actually use the patch of grass for a potty.
