Artsy Flight

I love it when I can save a photo that should have been deleted. This birds tail was so blown out that I was about the delete it when I decided I liked the clouds well enough to try to save it. I think I like how it turned out. Sometimes I have to go back to a photo a few times to know for sure if I like it.

Broken but Beautiful

Broken and Bent

I imagine a hard wind broke this tree off, but even whats left standing is beautiful. This stands near Cape Arago on the Oregon Coast.

I softened the edges to add an artsy look.

I'll be out of town tomorrow night. See you Monday.

Mossy Fence

I love moss and I love fences so I like this shot pretty well. Another photo photoshopped into an "artsy" look.

In My Dreams

A couple weeks ago I was out shooting and noticed these flowers next to a produce stand. I stopped to take some shots but it was windy and the flowers were moving so much I knew I couldn't get a clear shot. Today I pulled them up and sure enough the clarity was way off but I liked the composition and the old building behind them.

I played with this one for awhile but I couldn't get it sharp enough without it looking over processed. So I decided if I couldn't get it sharper I would run with the blur.. and I really like the effect.

Weird Stuff

Ever since I've been into photography I've tried and tried to catch a robin pulling a worm out of the ground. I have yet to be sucessful but I came somewhat close today. I caught the robin just after it had pulled the worm out of the ground.

But, alas, I didn't get a clear shot and no matter how hard I tried I couldnt make a decent photo out of it.

So, I figured if I can't make a decent photo I'll make a weird photo. I think this looks a bit sci-fi

Playing With Daisies

I Just had a few minutes to grab a shot this afternoon so I went out to the yard and picked a small daisy. I haven't used my macro lens for awhile so stuck the daisy stem in a hole in my fence to get a few close up shots. The flower head is about a half inch across.

I decided to try something I have heard others talk about but have never tried myself. I reversed the lens on my camera, holding it in place while shooting. You can get an attachment that will hold the lens in place but I don't have one.

I didn't use a tripod and trying to hold the lens in place and focus was quite a challenge so the images aren't sharp but I was amazed at how much closer you can get using this method.

And then, of course, I had to play with them in Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop.

I used another daisy with a little pink on it for this extra close shot.

I'll be trying this experiment again.

Artsy Outbuildings

Since several people liked the effect yesterday I thought I'd try it again. These are more out buildings in the same place as the outhouse.

The location and history of these buildings will be my next week post on my Oregon - Out & About blog

Artsy Outhouse

I took a picture of this old falling down outhouse last weekend. An outhouse was an outdoor toilet way back before indoor plumbing. Most of you are probably too young to remember them but we had one when I was a kid. I definately remember the smell in the summertime.

Anyway, I didn't like the way the photo turned out. The background was too light. It was an hour drive to get the shot so I might not get back there soon to reshoot. Other than the background, I really liked the shot so I played with it awhile and came up with an artsy version I kinda like.

Artistic Out House

This is the original version. Which do you prefer?
