Werewolf Moon
Even a man who is pure in heart
and says his prayers by night,
may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms
and the autumn moon is bright.
The Wolf Man (1941) ...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
A story about this shot... the shot of the sunset with the paraglider on my last SkyWatch Friday was taken last month when I spent a few days at the coast. Just as the sun disappeared into the horizon in the West, a stranger came up to me and told me to look behind me. This gorgeous moon was coming up over a mountain to the East. It was amazing. People who had gathered to watch the sunset stood in awe as the moon climbed into the sky.
I darkened the sky a little for a more striking effect.

Flight at Sunset
I must apologize for my lack of commenting and not posting every day recently. Those of you who keep track of that sort of thing may know that the Feds doubled the amount of funding going to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) program this year. This is a very good thing because with the high price of gas, groceries and medicine, many low-income families have trouble paying their heat bills in the winter.
This is one of the programs I run for Douglas County, Oregon. What this means for us is that we have approximately $1.2 million dollars to spend, $300 at a time, making payments to utility companies on behalf of these low-income families. But what this also means is that, for right now, between this program and another big project at work, I'm working 10-12 hour days and then coming home and working on yet another project! Whew!
Some of it will end soon and I'll be back to normal. :)

Mud Slinging... Fun Style
First I apologize to Salty and others who have dial up, for so many photos in one post.
These photos were taken last summer. My grandson was looking forward to his base ball game one Saturday but when we got to the field we learned that the game was called because of a huge mud puddle in the middle of the field. He was very disappointed and on the verge of tears until his mom came to the rescue!
My daughter, Christy, is a very hands-on totally-involved mom. She not only doesn't mind muddy/sloppy/yukky things that would have made me cringe when I had young kids.. she encourages them!
So.. not to let this mud puddle ruin the day, she took off her shoes and splashed right into it. Needless to say she was followed by my grandson who quickly forgot his disappointment.
This is my muddy grandson Raymon :)
Most of the other parents were quickly hurrying their kids away before they got wet but the coach, after some convincing, let her kids join the fun.
These kids will remember the fun they had this day MUCH longer than they would ever have remembered the ball game or the disappointment they felt when it was cancelled.
You rock Christy!

School of INDUSTRIAL ARTS @ BAYARDS, NYC
A wonderful affair at a wonderful place, the 1958 Class of the High School of Industrial Arts came together to celebrate their 50Th Reunion at BAYARDS, 1 Hanover Square, NYC. I was made to feel at home especially when they found out I graduated from the High School of Art and Design which is what their school changed into when it moved to 57 Street and Second Ave and took on a new name!

Funny Face - Black Tail Deer
This little sweetheart and his mother were eating near the road. He looked up at me with this startled expression but wasn't in too a big hurry to run away so I got a few more fun shots.

SkyWatch Friday
This was the most amazing sunset. I saw it starting on the way home from work and knew I wouldn’t make it home in time to get any good shots, so I pulled into the parking lot of a local sawmill and grabbed all the shots I could get.
I don’t know what the bright object over the clouds is. It looks like its smeared around it but that’s how it came out of the camera. Moon? Planet? UFO?
