Orange Sky - SkyWatch Friday
The colors in this sky were amazing. There was nothing close by that the sunset would make a perfect background for, so I just had to snap what was there.. a few lights lights and this tree.

Oregon Sunset
Another beautiful Oregon Sunset. I have never seen a sunset with such strange clouds. They were straight and on a slant. It makes the horizon appear to be at a slant too.

Storm in The East
This was supposed to be for SWF but it seems Mr Linky isn't accepting Internet Explorer right now.

From my office window

I was blessed with this view from my office window two weeks ago.
I haven’t been around much lately. I’ve been so busy with the Holidays and having company, and just haven’t felt inclined to post to my blog. I’ll be back after the first of the year.

Somewhere.... Under the Rainbow...
... is a cow.... on a hill....

I posted this shot a couple years ago but I thought it would make a good SkyWatch Friday post too. When I saw this rainbow, I was driving around like a wild woman trying to find a good shot of it. When I saw the cows on the hill with the only cow that wasn't black almost standing in the rainbow, I stopped in the middle of the road to get the shot.

Peace in The Valley

Our Agency has an office in a neighboring county, Josephine County, and yesterday I went down to help interview applicants for a job opening. I started down a hill just before I got to Grants Pass, Oregon and was totally blown away by the scene before me. Luckily there was a wide spot next to the freeway and I parked quickly and stood in awe looking at this valley filled with fog.
It was an emotional experience for me and I was literally moved to tears by the beauty. I was so moved that for a few minutes I forgot to grab my camera. Once I started shooting I was like a wild woman trying to get as many shots as I could in the short time I had left. It was very hard to get back in the car and drive away. I wanted to stay and watch the fog lift but would have been late for my meeting.
There is no water in this valley, this is all fog. I will be posting more shots in the next few days. This beauty that God created is too perfect not to share.
Oh, there IS a sky up there but it’s hard to tell where it ends and the mountains and fog begin. :)

Storm at Smith Rock Park

This was taken at Smith Rock Park in Eastern Oregon. A storm was rapidly approaching so I snapped a few shots just before the rain hit, then I ran for the car.

Werewolf Moon

Even a man who is pure in heart
and says his prayers by night,
may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms
and the autumn moon is bright.
The Wolf Man (1941) ...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
A story about this shot... the shot of the sunset with the paraglider on my last SkyWatch Friday was taken last month when I spent a few days at the coast. Just as the sun disappeared into the horizon in the West, a stranger came up to me and told me to look behind me. This gorgeous moon was coming up over a mountain to the East. It was amazing. People who had gathered to watch the sunset stood in awe as the moon climbed into the sky.
I darkened the sky a little for a more striking effect.

Flight at Sunset
I must apologize for my lack of commenting and not posting every day recently. Those of you who keep track of that sort of thing may know that the Feds doubled the amount of funding going to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) program this year. This is a very good thing because with the high price of gas, groceries and medicine, many low-income families have trouble paying their heat bills in the winter.
This is one of the programs I run for Douglas County, Oregon. What this means for us is that we have approximately $1.2 million dollars to spend, $300 at a time, making payments to utility companies on behalf of these low-income families. But what this also means is that, for right now, between this program and another big project at work, I'm working 10-12 hour days and then coming home and working on yet another project! Whew!
Some of it will end soon and I'll be back to normal. :)

SkyWatch Friday

This was the most amazing sunset. I saw it starting on the way home from work and knew I wouldn’t make it home in time to get any good shots, so I pulled into the parking lot of a local sawmill and grabbed all the shots I could get.
I don’t know what the bright object over the clouds is. It looks like its smeared around it but that’s how it came out of the camera. Moon? Planet? UFO?
