Changing Times

The fall colors are so gorgeous this year.
Fall

Thanks so much for all your prayers and well wishes. My latest tests didn't come back as well as we hoped. I am waiting to get an appointment with a specialist. Waiting is the pits :) I should hear from him tomorrow though.

Honesty

Honesty

Sorry I haven't been posting lately. I've been hiding out for a few days, not much feeling like posting. But the blogger friends I've made here are important to me and one shouldn't hide from friends, so I thought I'd be honest instead.

Some medical tests I had recently came back with "highly suspicious" cells. My Dr did a DNC Friday and we are waiting for those reports to come back. Its a bit scary but I'm pretty much OK. I just didn't feel like posting as though everything is normal when it isn't. So, dear blogger friends, this is where I am. I would appreciate the prayers of those so inclined.

Thanks

Faye

Camas Valley Fog

I could never get tired of seeing foggy country scenes. This was taken near a tiny community in Oregon.. Camas Valley, the same community as Monday's fog shot.

Trunk

I thought the shape of this pine/fir tree was so interesting. Its unusual to see such a huge branch like the one close to the ground.

Fog in Fall

This was taken a couple weeks ago, on my way to the coast. This farm is in a small community called Camas Valley. I was in awe when I saw the fog rising from the ground. The soil was wet and the sun had just came out and was warming the soil and drawing out the moisture.

Fog in Fall

I've battled a nasty trojan over the weekend. It almost brought my computer to a stand still. I think I have most of it cleaned out but I still get some annoying popups.

What I saw at The Beach - A Claw and A Leaf

Someone asked how I did these collages. Its a program called LumaPix Fotofusion. If I remember correctly its a free download.

What I Found on The Beach - Guts

OK seriously, as bad as this looks, I promise no animals were disemboweled to get this shot. I believe this is some type of sea plant but it certainly looks fleshy.

What I Found on The Beach.. A Shell

You can tell how small this shell is by the size of the grains of sand. Its amazing how many colors there are in ordinary sand. We think of it as gray but check out the different colors here.

What I Found on The Beach - A Dead Crab

This baby didn't make it. Not pretty but dead critters are always part of a walk on the beach. This one was tiny. The shell wasn't more than an inch across.

What I Found on The Beach - A Wet Feather

I walked along the beach and rather than take my usual photos of the ocean, the waves, the ocean birds, the skys... I looked down and took photos of the common things I saw lying on the sand.

This feather was the first thing I shot. I noticed the water drops on it but until I got home and edited it I didn't notice how the water drops magnified parts of the feather.

For the next few days I'll show you the interesting things I found on the beach.

Shore Acres Finale

I hope I'm not lagging everyone to death here. I couldn't leave Shore Acres without showing you the last of these gorgeous flowers.

Tomorrow we'll leave the park and I'll take you with me on a nice quiet walk along an Oregon beach.

Shore Acres Dahlia Gardens

The dahlia beds in this garden are breathtaking. There are four big beds full of hundreds of dahlias in dozens of different varities and colors. I won't bore those of you who aren't flower lovers with photos of all the varities but will show a few of my favorites.

OK.. the Mirror Reflection photo WAS flipped. I thought one of you would figure it out from the moss on the left side :)

Still at Shore Acres...

This plant fascinated me. The "fruit" looks like rose hips but they are HUGE... probably the size of a US quarter across. But if they are rose bushes there were no faded flowers left anywhere on the plant and it seemed like there should have been. Anyone know what this is?

Mirror Reflection

I got to the coast this weekend. The weather was rainy, foggy and cool.. it was perfect! Shore Acres has gorgeous daliah gardens and I had to get there before they were all gone. I wasn't disappointed and will post some later but in the meantime.... I was amazed at how clear the reflections were in this pond. I could flip this shot and you probably wouldn't know the difference.
