Rustic Wheel - Sunday Archives

I've decided to start a new feature on my blog called Sunday Archives. I'll be posting some of my favorite shots from the almost-4-years I've been blogging. Most will be newly edited since I had no idea what I was doing when I started. :)

Out To Pasture

This old truck seems to have outlived its usefulness and, much like an old horse, has been turned out to pasture. Many thanks to the farmer who left this reminder of days gone by. My husband says he thinks its a 40's Ford truck but isn't sure. Anyone know for sure?

This is near the tiny community of Tenmile, Oregon. I've been through this area many times and have never noticed this truck before because it sits at the back of a large pasture. Yesterday I stopped to take some pictures of hay bails across the road and discovered the truck when I started to get back in my car.

This gives an idea of how far back in the pasture it is and why I missed it before.

Photowannabe mentioned a series of photos from the old school in yesterdays post so I went back through my shots to see what else I had. The best I can do for now is showing more of the surrounding area.

I'll get out there again soon and will trespass this time. There is a fence but a way to get through the fence without toooo much trouble and there is no "no trespassing" sign. I also don't know if they would let me post to my blog from jail so if I disappear for awhile you'll know why :)

Needful Things - Microscope and Thread Spool

Another of the amazing objects displayed around this old building. I thought the spool sitting on this microscope was part of it at first. It blends well.

Old Things and Imagination

You're right Annie. There are still so many wonderful things to see in this old treasure trove.

I would love to know who all used this skate.

I envision an excited 6 year old sitting impatiently while his mom attaches this, and its matching skate, to his shoes. He's grining his six-years-old-with-missing-front-teeth grin and his mom is telling him to be still so she can get them buckled on.

Can you see him?

Better Days

This old wagon has seen better days. It sits in a field in an old mining town called Golden. Golden is a ghost town now. I'll show more of it in the next few days.

Needful Things... and Rust

A friend from work (thank you Cathey)told me about a country road she was on that had some neat old barns and "buildings with old things hanging on them". I found the old barns and of course got some shots of them, but when I found the "buildings with old things hanging on them" I was thrilled and stopped to take dozens of shots.

There are so many wonderful things on and around this building and a smaller one next to it, this will probably fill my blog for the rest of the week. I hope you find it as interesting as I do.

Unexpected Rural Charm

I've learned that when I go on a photo excursion often the best shot of the day I got only because I stopped to shoot something else. Today I drove up a country road and saw an old barn I wanted to shoot. I pulled off on the closest wide spot which happened to be by a farmers gate across the road from the barn. I got some decent shots of the barn and started to get back in my car when I noticed this old wagon wheel sitting next to a fence right beside my car. I would never have noticed this just driving by. The thistles were a bonus.

I'll post the barn photo another day.

Thanks unknown farmer. You made my day and my shot.
